Coffee Talk with a Reader!

I’ve decided to do something I’ve never seen on a blog before. I’m interviewing Dee Smith, one of the readers of my book ‘The Chief’s Proposal’.

Let me start by giving you a little history. Dee’s husband and mine have been partners at work for over five years. We talked about getting together, but it never seemed to happen because of our work schedules and distance. Recently, we became Facebook friends and have often passed messages via our husbands. Also, Dee has generously offered her talents as a computer genius to my all thumbs husband.

One day Dee had a day off and asked me to meet her half way between our homes for dinner. We got along so well, we ended up at the theater to watch ‘Magic Mike’. What better way for two new female friends to bond then admiring hot guys together, right?

Dee was great about sharing all my promo-posts and I believe she was the first person to purchase my book and write reviews for it. That’s what I call a buddy!

Dee, tell us a little about yourself-

I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL where I attended Wolfson High School.  I moved to Gainesville in 2003 and started Cavern diving, where I met my husband in 2006.  We now live in Bronson, FL with our two dogs, Hecate and Thor. Hecate is a Timber wolf mix and Thor is a Newfoundland mix.  Oh must not forget the cat Bo who is so old all he does is eat and sleep, ;)  Besides diving, I enjoy reading and fixing computers.  I am currently enrolled in College, again, for accounting.

How many books would you say you read in a month?

5-9 a month depending on length and interest.

What type books most interest you?

I enjoy romance, horror, and mystery

Do you have a favorite author?

Yes, Stephen King has always been a favorite since I was a kid, but now I have found a wonderful romance writer in your books.

Gee, thanks Dee. What was the last book you read?

Hmmm, I guess that would have to be the Hunger Games Series.  I’m currently reading 'The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty'.

Your review of ‘The Chief’s Proposal’ was very flattering. I’d like to ask you a few questions about it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That would have to be Brett, 'The Chief'.  He reminds me a lot of my husband, No-nonsense, straight to the point, but soft and caring when the time calls for it.

That's so sweet. What was your favorite scene?

Hmmm, that’s a tough one, since there were a lot of them, but I would have to say the one where Ginny is caught, unaware, that she was being watched while 'taking a dip' in the lake.  It’s shocking, funny, and heartwarming all in one.

Did the story have any surprises for you?

Several, I would never guess that, well I don’t want to spoil it, but let’s say it kept me on the edge constantly.

If I were to write a sequel, who do you think the main character/characters would be from the original story?

I would love to hear more about Brett and Ginny as well as the rest of the Silverfeather family.

Before we finish, Dee, I’d like to express what an excellent friend you are and tell you how much I appreciate your support. You Rock!!!

Sandy, it’s not hard to be a good friend when you have a person like you as a friend.  Your writing is fantastic and from the heart, so its great to be able to support you and your husband in your dream.  GOOD LUCK!!!

  1. For those of you who maybe concerned:
Dee's husband is a registered exotic pet owner. Hecate is in a safe and responsible environment with his best buddies, Thor and Bo.

  3. Hi Sandra and Dee! * waving from the other side of the world* What a great spin on an interview Sandra - that was fun! And you're right - friends like you have should be treasured. I might have to steal your idea in appreciation of a couple of my own amazing friends. Where would we be without them?

Dee - your dogs took my breath away. They are gorgeous! I own a greyhound, and since owning her, I've found myself taking a huge interest in other's dogs. And 6-9 books a month!! Wow - how blissful! Luckily, there is no shortage of great writers out there to keep you (and me) busy - like our Sandra, huh? :) Now - she just needs to get a wriggle on and write more for us to enjoy! ;)

    1. I think it's harder for writers to read as much. So many stories clashing in your head. Then in the middle of it all, you get an idea and it's off to the keyboard

  5. I find it's wonderful when you can find a friend that will give you an honest opinion of your writing. Great interview!

    1. I agree Ilona, it's like having a friend to tell you when you have something in your teeth or your underwear is showing. Honesty is appreciated.
