!!! THE DYSFUNCTIONAL TEST !!! ~with a giveaway :) ~

Welcome back to Coffee Talk, Kelly! I always look forward to what you have in store for us next. Whether it's spooky, heartwarming, funny, etc...I know it's going to be good. It looks like THE DYSFUNCTIONAL TEST will not be an exception.

Aw, thanks, Sandy! Hi everyone! I will give away a FREE ebook of my new release, THE DYSFUNCTIONAL TEST, to one commenter at the end of today.

To start off, let's jump right in with the Blurb~

You are cordially challenged to a test of true love...
Thanks to her large, crazy Serbian family, Camryn Covic is an expert at shutting down her emotions in order to maintain her sanity. But when she loses her apartment, her job and her boyfriend all in one day, she hits her breaking point. Worse, if her family finds out she's single again, her sister's upcoming wedding will be a disaster. The bride-to-be has a plan, though. A plan that involves an old friend, a pretend relationship... and the probability of ending up in a padded cell. Troy Lanske agrees to the crazy plan only because Camryn was once his lifeline as a foster child. But she isn't the idealistic girl he remembers. She's become so jaded that she doesn't even believe in love anymore. He sets out to restore her faith in happily-ever-afters, but his plan backfires when the fake relationship begins to feel all too real. Falling for the one woman he can't have could mean losing more than just his honorary family. He could lose everything.

Now that we have our visitors hooked, how can they get a copy?

We all have a connection to every story we write; the setting, family dynamic, a certain scene... What is your connection to THE DYSFUNCTIONAL TEST?

LOL. The heroine, Camryn, is a lot like me. This book is about a woman who survived her crazy Serbian family, but not necessarily in tact. I'm half Serbian and drew a lot of my experiences to deliver the humor in this story. It was fun getting Troy to loosen up and enjoy life again.

I confess that I've already fallen in love with Troy. He seems like a take charge kind of guy. It was this excerpt that got me hooked~

“What’s wrong?” she asked, worried the heat or altitude was getting to him. When they first exited the car she noticed how much thinner the air was. Perhaps he hadn’t adjusted yet.
“I have an idea, and you won’t like it.”
“Then my answer is no.”
“You haven’t heard the idea yet.”
“I don’t need to. If you think it’s a bad idea…”
“I didn’t say it was a bad idea. I said you wouldn’t like it.”
She crossed her arms. “Same difference.”
He looked un-amused. “Everyone is sitting across the yard over there. We can see them, which means they can see us. We need a public display.”
She didn’t like the sound of that. But before she could process fully, he slid an arm around her waist and drew her to him. Hard chest. Wall of hard chest. Now there was no air.
“Act like we’ve done this before,” he whispered.
“Done what?”
“Kiss, Cam. Act like you’ve kissed me before.”
“How am I supposed to do…?”
The words died in her throat as his mouth closed over hers.

Totally Hot! If you could pick an actor to play Troy in a future movie, who would you pick?

Too funny! Troy has Ryan Reynolds or Bradley Cooper written all over him.

Who would you want to play Camryn?

Alexis Bledel.

Because of your eclectic backlist, I'm guessing that you follow your moods when writing. I don't know about you, but my moods change frequently. How many stories do you have in progress at any given time?

Since focusing only on romance the past four years, I only work on one book at a time or I never finish. I am a mood writers though. Currently I'm working on a trilogy about a team of ghost hunters. The first book is called Ghost of a Chance and it's a contemporary romance.

What do you do with the ideas that come to you when you're too busy with your current project to start a new one?

Besides go crazy? I write them down. I literally have a notebook by my desk with notes for the next 8 books I have to write.

Without giving away any surprises, what can we look forward to next?

I'm currently in the process of trying to sell a heartfelt romance called The Weight of Weeping, which is about an injured Iraq vet who returns home only to find the woman he was forced to let go years before has returned.

One thing I love about you, Kelly, is your endless sense of humor. I don't know how you do it with a family to take care of while you carve out precious writing time. Please share more about yourself with our visitors.

Aw, I'm blushing!

Kelly's been known to say that she gets her ideas from everyone and everything around her, and that there's always a book playing out in her head. No one who knows her bats an eyelash when she talks to herself. She began her writing career in the Indie market, becoming the recipient of an Editor's Choice Award, a Finalist in the 2008 Best Book Awards, and a Finalist in the 2009 Indie Excellence Awards before moving into traditional publishing. Her books not only have honors from the top review sites, but from NY Times bestsellers too. She is a respected reviewer and a Romance Writers of America member. Kelly's interests include: sappy movies, MLB, NFL, driving others insane, and sleeping when she can. She is a closet caffeine junkie and chocoholic, but don't tell anyone. She resides in Wisconsin with her husband, Darren, three sons, Logan, Evan, & Ethan, and her black lab, Willow. Most of her family lives in the Carolinas, so she spends a lot of time there as well.

  5. Great interview! I agree for the "casting" I pictured a Ryan Reynolds or Bradley Cooper "type" for Troy. ( sexy, blonde , blue-eyed with a great sense of humor) and Alexis Bledel would be perfect as Camryn! Now go get that written! lol

    1. Yes, at least my dog is a girl. I'm probably lucky they were all boys anyway. I'm not very girly. I'd rather play baseball then go shopping. I'm the only one in my house who yells at the sporting events on TV...
I shouldn't admit that either............. XO
